Movie Review : Lucy

Normally I don't do movie reviews but this movie has compelled me to write a review.

CAST

Lucy is a story of a young woman who was tricked by her boyfriend and then later drugged by a drug dealer. Normally whenever we hear of such a clichè scene we can only come to three conclusions : the person who was drugged turned into a zombie or the person got super powers. In this case it is the latter one.

The first 25 mins of the movie are a little sloppy and disconcerting , though only two scenes are happening simultaneously yet the viewer is unable to understand what is going on. Moreover the antagonist of the movie is a Korean man called Mr. Jang (played by ) who doesn't speak a word in english and the viewers who cannot understand the language are left to their own imagination. The plot becomes lucid after 25 minutes when we see Lucy using more than 10% of her brain because she has been drugged and there is a packet of drugs in her intestines. Lucy goes on a hunt to find the other people who have been drugged with the help of a local police captain,Pierre Del Rio (played by ). Meanwhile she contacts Professor Norman (played by Morgan Freeman) who was a scientist researching on the usage of the human brain. She tells him about her condition and to make it sound believable she magically appeared on all the electric devices which were kept near Professor Norman. This sounds a little far-fetched but perhaps it might be possible in the future. Professor Norman agrees to meet her along with his team of scientists. The picturisation of the movie is indeed applausable. The last 20 minutes of the movie are a utter chaos , if you're smart enough you might understand what is going on and more importantly why but in my case I couldn't understand why certain things were happening they way they were. The movie ends on a facetious but rather perplexing note. The viewers are left wondering how can Lucy (SPOILER ALERT) disappear into thin air when she used 100% of her brain.

Though the plot good yet it was too unrealistic. The basic idea of the movie which was "What would happen if someone used more than 10% of their brain" was indeed an incredible one but it could have been a little more believable. However the movie didn't fail its main purpose , which was to leave the viewers wondering about the movie for quite a while.

Rating - 7/10
